Three juveniles arrested after allegedly breaking into vacant CT home

Three juveniles face charges for allegedly breaking into a vacant home in Coventry earlier this month.

The burglary was reported on Nov. 1 after the owner of a property on Woodland Road told police it appeared as though someone had broken in and spent a “considerable” amount of time there, according to the Coventry Police Department.

Police said they were able to identify three suspects using the home’s video surveillance system, which showed their physical appearance and included audio in which the alleged burglars could be heard referring to each other by their names.

The suspects, ages 15, 16 and 17, were each charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespassing and sixth-degree larceny, according to police. The 17-year-old was also charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

The teens were referred to the Superior Court for Juvenile Matters in Willimantic.
