Tigers Woods has successful back surgery

Golf legend Tiger Woods has gone under the knife again.

Woods announced on social media that he had undergone another back surgery on Thursday morning.

In a statement, Woods said the procedure was “microdecompression surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back.”

Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Calif., operated on Woods.

“The surgery went smoothly and I’m hopeful this will help alleviate the back spasms and pain I was experiencing throughout most of the 2024 season,” Woods said in a statement. “I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal life activities, including golf.”

Woods has had reoccurring back injuries since 2014, according to NBC Sports. He has now had six back surgeries in the last 10 years.

Woods competed in five tournaments this season, most recently The Open Championship in July when he missed the cut by shooting 14 above par.
