Troy receives $1 million gift for indoor practice facility project

Troy has received $1 million from an alumnus and longtime supporter of the school toward construction of its planned indoor practice facility, the school announced Tuesday.

The gift, whose donor wished to remain anonymous, will offset a huge portion of the construction costs. Troy chancellor Jack Hawkins announced last December the school had set aside $10 million for the indoor facility.

“I am very thankful and appreciative of this transformative donation that will act as the lead gift for the indoor practice facility,” athletics director Brent Jones said. “This facility project will benefit and impact several of our athletic programs and student-athletes.”

Troy is expected to break ground on the new facility at the end of the current season, with plans to complete construction in time for 2025 preseason camp. The indoor facility will be located between Veterans Memorial Stadium and Trojan Arena, on the site of the current outdoor practice fields.
