Troy wide receiver Devonte Ross on Monday was named Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Ross, a sophomore from Cartersville, Ga., returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown and had 219 all-purpose yards in a 38-21 loss at Iowa on Saturday. It was the Trojans’ first punt return for a score since 2018.
Ross also caught a pair of long touchdown passes — 63 and 62 yards, accounting for 18 of Troy’s 21 points. He totaled five catches for 142 yards in the game.
Appalachian State quarterback Joey Aguilar was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, while Georgia State linebacker Kevin Swint took honors on defense.
Troy (0-3) hosts Florida A&M (2-1) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
