Trumbull County first responders collecting canned goods for area food pantries

TRUMBULL CO., Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is teaming up with other first responders to help stock the shelves of area food pantries.

The sixth annual “Can the Cruiser” is set for this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Troopers and other emergency responders will be collecting canned goods and monetary donations for several organizations in the community at four places in Trumbull County.

The locations include:

  • Sparkle in Champion
  • Walmart in Bazetta
  • Giant Eagle in both Howland and Niles

“It’s a great event. The community does a great job and it’s just great to see so many people have a giving heart,” said Lt. Daniel Morrison, post commander at OSHP Warren.

Last year’s “Can the Cruiser” brought in about four tons of canned goods and close to $10,000.
