Tyrese Gibson and Terrence Howard have shared the screen twice. The duo first appeared together in 2005’s Four Brothers and reunited in 2022’s The System. While both actors share a friendly bond on-screen, Gibson had serious issues with Terrence Howard’s role in the latter’s critically acclaimed Empire series.
Tyrese Gibson made his feature film debut with Baby Boy. The 2001 film received positive responses from critics and audiences. Fans loved the pairing of Gibson and Taraji P. Henson as Jody and Yvette. Although the duo never dated in real life, the Fast & Furious star raised many eyebrows on expressing his discomfort while watching Terrence Howard kissing Henson in Empire.
Tyrese Gibson could not stand Terrence Howard in Empire
Interestingly, Tyrese Gibson and Taraji P. Henson, who starred in Baby Boy, Four Brothers, and the former’s music video Stay, could have reunited in the Fox series. Gibson’s music background aided him in getting approached for the role but his personal troubles did not let him do so.
In a chat with HuffPost, the Transformers actor highly regretted missing out on the chance to share the screen with his best friend Henson again. Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson starred in the Empire series as the on-screen married couple, Lucious Lyon and Loretha “Cookie” Lyon.
Tyrese Gibson has often spoken about his close bond with Henson in several interviews. But it was clear that the 45-year-old actor saw The Color Purple actress as more than a best friend when he joked about picking up a beef against the Iron Man actor Terrence Howard for kissing Henson in Empire.
I don’t like Terrence [Howard] kissing all over her. It bothers me, and we’re gonna have to figure this s*** out.
In an interview with The New York Daily News, Tyrese Gibson said that he and Taraji P. Henson were like family. He admitted that both of them regularly met each other and maintained a connection through lunch and dinner dates.
Tyrese Gibson is presently embroiled in legal trouble
In the recent few years, we have witnessed many popular celebrities embroiled in legal troubles due to several issues. Things also became ugly for Tyrese Gibson on Monday when he was taken into custody for unpaid child support.
According to TMZ, Tyrese Gibson was spotted in handcuffs during his ongoing legal battle against his ex-wife Samantha Lee at the Fulton County Superior Court. Reportedly, the judge also asked the Death Race actor to pay a hefty sum of $73,000 to Lee, including $7,500 in legal fees for Lee to avoid jail time.
Earlier in April 2023, Gibson was ordered to pay over $10,000/month for child support to his ex-wife Samatha Lee, with whom he shares a daughter, Soraya. But as of last year, the actor was paying much less than the aforementioned figure, somewhere around $2,200.
As per TMZ’s latest update, Tyrese Gibson was released after his attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham appealed the judge’s verdict. The appeal brought him some time and did not require immediate payment before he was released. The Morbius actor took to his Instagram stories (see Los Angeles Times) to express that the arrest was very traumatic for him.
