UAB’s Brandon Buckhaulter taken off on stretcher after injury vs. Arkansas

UAB wide receiver Brandon Buckhaulter was taken off the field on a stretcher in the second quarter of Saturday’s game at Arkansas after suffering a scary injury.

Buckhaulter — a junior wide receiver from Jackson, Miss., who began his career at Ole Miss — was face-masked by the Razorbacks’ Xavian Sorey on the play, causing him to lose his helmet. A second Arkansas player, Landon Jackson, then tackled Buckhaulter and drove him into the ground headfirst.

Here’s video:

Buckhaulter lay on the field for several minutes as medical personnel immobilized him and placed him on a backboard and stretcher. He waved to the crowd with both arms as he was carted off the field.

The SEC Network’s Ashley ShahAhmadi reported that Buckhaulter was transported via ambulance to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville for treatment. Arkansas and UAB were tied 17-17 at the time of Buckhaulter’s injury.
