Warrant: Crossville teacher allegedly threatened student with a knife

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Cumberland County educator is facing a felony charge after he was accused of threatening students in a high school classroom earlier this week.

Court documents state James Edward Greene, 56, is set to appear in court in December for a reckless endangerment charge.

An arrest warrant states Greene allegedly held “an edged weapon” in the vicinity of a student’s neck “in a threatening manner” on Nov. 13 at Stone Memorial High School.

“This student was not following directions of the teacher and the teacher had become irate with him and retrieved the knife that he used to prepare his lunch from his desk and made the threat to the student,” the arrest warrant stated.

Greene was placed into police custody and charged. His bond has been set at $40,000 and his initial court appearance date is Dec. 16.
