Warren event helps community stay warm in winter

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Warren community is helping those in need as the cold months begin.

Sunday was the first Warming Warren event of the season. People gave out free coats, hats, gloves, socks and scarves for people of all ages in Trumbull County. Hot meals were also available.

Event organizer Lori Tichenor has been helping out for nine years. She said it’s important to give back to the community.

“People cannot afford these kinds of things because of the way prices are right now. By the time you buy groceries, you can’t afford to buy a coat for your child. So, how many people throw them away, what do you do with them? They’re in good shape. We don’t give away junk. It’s either brand new or in very good shape, and these people need it,” she said.

Tichenor said there will be another Warming Warren event on Dec. 8 as well as a free breakfast with Santa for the kids. It will be at Odds in Warren on Youngstown Road SE.
