During It Takes Two last night, his co-star Kai Widdrington told viewers about his TV gig outside of the UK.

The 29-year-old said: “Earlier this year, Spain relaunched Bailando Con Las Estrellas.

“It is hosted by Argentinian model Valeria Mazza and one of Spain’s well-known presenters, Jesús Vázquez.

“There are not three, not four, but five judges, including Blanca Li, journalist and writer Boris Izaguire, director of musicals Julia Gomez Cora, Antonia Dell’ate, and the fifth judge, I think you may recognise – it’s our very own Gorka Marquez.”

Gorka, 34, then opened up on the show’s format, including the gruelling hours for shooting – while revealing he insulted a star so much she stormed off.

After Spanish star Athenea performed with her dancer partner, Gorka gave them a harsh score of two out of 10.

He explained: “So we had this celebrity called Athenea, she’s a strong personality and cannot take criticisms very good.”

Strictly fans were then shown the controversial clip as Gorka tells her: “Where do I start? I’m a little speechless, and not because it was good. It’s more bad than good”.

Reflecting, Gorka told Kai: “So she got very upset about it and said ‘I don’t need this, I’m leaving.

“They were like ‘where are you going’ and she said ‘I am leaving’ and then she left.”

Unlike our version, Gorka added that the celebs and their dancers have no idea when they’ll perform during the live show.

He explained: “When it comes to the couples, we don’t know which order we’ll dance in, so on the table there’s an envelope, and she opens it and says, ‘Next one will be.’

“Then, you have the time of the VT to get ready to dance. Then the other thing is the way they score.”

Strictly Specials

  • Movies Week – Each year the cast of dancers on the show perform spellbinding routines to an iconic movie soundtrack or hit song associated with the big-screen blockbusters. Previous films to have been featured include The Sound of Music, Bridget Jones’ Diary and Clueless.
  • Musicals Week – In a similar vein to Movies, the cast perform routines inspired by hit stage musicals each year on the show.
  • Halloween Week – Things take a seriously spooky turn as the show transforms into a haven for Halloween towards the end of October. With some bone-chilling costumes and sometimes terrifying routines, it proves to be a fan favourite week year-on-year.
  • Blackpool Week – As the show hits Blackpool Tower, things get even more over-the-top. Huge props, backing dancers and extra special effects flood the ballroom for the extra special week.
