We Are Officially Terrified For ‘Agatha All Along’ After Aubrey Plaza’s Response to “gayest” Marvel Show Comments

Actress Aubrey Plaza is set to make her MCU debut with the upcoming series Agatha All Along, which recently held its premiere event. The series serves as a spin-off of WandaVision and follows Kathryn Han’s titular witch and her coven. It also reunites Plaza with Han following their stint on the sitcom Parks and Recreation.

During the premiere event, the series was called the gayest Marvel show. However, Plaza’s response to this claim was overtly positive. As a result, some MCU fans are concerned about the show, especially since The Acolyte, which held a similar standing in the Star Wars fanbase, turned out to be abysmal. Here is what fans are saying about Plaza’s comments.

Aubrey Plaza Reacts to Agatha All Along Being Called the Gayset Marvel Show

Aubrey Plaza will play the role of Rio Vidal, a warrior witch in Agatha All Along. Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness in the series, with several other actors joining the show’s ensemble cast. During the red carpet event at the show’s premiere, Plaza interacted with Variety.

The reporter described the series as the “gayest” Marvel project and asked Plaza to comment on the same. The Parks and Recreation actress took the comment as a compliment and admitted that she signed on to the show precisely for those reasons.

It better be, cause that’s what I signed up for.

Plaza made the above statement as she seemingly agreed with the notion that Agatha All Along is at least, on some level, pandering to a specific audience. As a result, the show’s quality has come under question, especially after the high-profile misfire that was The Acolyte.

The Star Wars series was also called the gayest in the franchise, and it inadvertently became a major talking point during its promotional campaign. Therefore, one of the lead stars of Agatha All Along having a similar take on the upcoming series does not bode well for its fate.

Netizens Feel Agatha All Along Could End Up Bombing Like The Acolyte

MCU fans quickly reacted to Plaza’s response to the claims of Agatha All Along being described as the gayest Marvel project. Fans shared their thoughts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and feared that Plaza supporting the notion could only mean bad things for the project.

Like the titular character, fans took a slew of sarcastic swings at the upcoming series after Plaza’s comment hit social media. Many fans compared the series with The Acolyte, which was heavily criticized for being unnecessarily woke and pandering to the LGBTQ+ audience.

Ultimately, Plaza’s comments do not inspire confidence in the series, especially since the show focuses on a supporting character from a different series. Hence, the entire existence of the show has also been questioned. As a result, the claims of Agatha All Along being on the same level as The Acolyte certainly make us worried for its fate.

Agatha All Along premieres with two episodes dropping on Disney+ on September 18, 2024.
