We Can Stop Feeling Bad for James Marsden After What The X-Men Star Has Revealed to be His True Wish

For years, James Marsden has been considered one of Hollywood’s underrated talents. However, his luck has not always been the best. In fact, the actor has often appeared in films like The Notebook, missing out on love. Whereas in X-Men films, he ended up being overshadowed by other superheroes. With the 50-year-old always ending up on the sidelines, fans have felt bad for the star. But now, those days may be over.

Although Marsden has never once complained about his roles, fans were outraged on his behalf. Thankfully, the actor has put an end to that by sharing what type of roles he really wants to play on the big screen.

James Marsden reveals his favorite type of acting roles

James Marsden sat down with The Guardian to discuss his 2023 project, a TV series called Jury Duty. During the conversation, the Westworld actor was asked about the type of roles he liked picking up. Without missing a beat, he ended up giving fans a look into his selection for projects.

I love playing the buffoon and the a*s. Someone who thinks they’re great at something but are clearly not. I’d much rather do that than play James Bond.

Marsden even stated that playing Scott Summers AKA Cyclops alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine had been the closest he’d come to “a James Bond character.” However, the star emphasized that he would have rather just played a goofy character or another superhero instead.

With Marsden clearing the air about why his characters always end up losing the girl or being pushed to the sidelines, fans no longer have a reason to be outraged by his misfortune. In fact, his explanation even ended up shedding light on why the star had chosen to be a part of the Amazon Freevee show.

James Marsden revealed his reservations about his latest show, Jury Duty

Just last year, it was announced that James Marsden would be starring in a reality television hoax series, Jury Duty. The actor was set to be playing a satirical, egotistical version of himself as a juror. In an interview with NPR, the actor opened up about the reservations he had about the show and his role.

I had many reservations, and the biggest one was the wild card of this one human being who’s being dropped into this situation that is all fake and manufactured.

Marsden continued, “Is this even something that is ethically right to do, to play with someone’s human experience over the course of three weeks of their life?” However, luckily for the show’s creators, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, he wound up changing his mind after a few conversations with them.

Marsden admitted that the creators had told him, “We’re surrounding him with is this cast of bizarre, eccentric weirdos and hopefully carving out a path for him to become the leader at the end, and have his 12 Angry Men moment, where he inspires us all and unites us and then we pull the curtain back and celebrate him as a human being.” Thankfully, that ended up selling him on the series.

Stream the first season of James Marsden’s Jury Duty on Amazon Prime Video.
