Despite a week off, Alabama football didn’t slip in the latest edition of the coaches top 25 poll, released on Sunday. The Crimson Tide remained fourth in the rankings, ahead of a Saturday matchup with Georgia.
The same remained the case in the AP top 25. Alabama maintained the No. 4 spot heading into the matchup with the Bulldogs. Georgia still holds the No. 2 spot in the AP top 25.
The Bulldogs were also off on Saturday. They remained ranked No. 1 in the coaches poll.
The top of the poll didn’t see much movement at all. Texas continued to sit at No. 2, with Ohio State in third.
In the coaches poll, Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss team sat fifth, after a blowout win against Georgia Southern. Tennessee took down Oklahoma in Norman in the week’s marquee matchup, and jumped from seventh to sixth in the coaches rankings, leapfrogging Oregon. The Vols also jumped ahead of Ole Miss in the AP top 25, moving into the top five.
Penn State, Miami and Utah made up the remainder of the coaches top 10. Missouri took a tumble after a near-upset against Vanderbilt, falling to 11th. The same occurred in the AP top 25.
Oklahoma dropped five spots to 18th in the coaches rankings after losing to the Volunteers while falling even farther in the AP top 25 to No. 21. Kansas State took a tumble after a blowout loss to BYU, falling 11 spots to No. 25 in the coaches poll and No. 23 in the AP top 25; the Cougars used the win to jump into the rankings, at No. 22 in both polls.
