Kamala Harris walked into the debate for this year’s elections ready to get under her rival’s skin and she did nothing less. It’s quite clear that she and her team had done thorough research on the lows of Donald Trump’s life including deeming him responsible for “the worst unemployment since the Great Depression.”
When it came to talking about what she brings to home ownership, Harris took another jab at Trump. She stated that knows all too well that not everyone was given $400 million on a silver platter only to go ahead and file for bankruptcy six times.
Harris said,
The values I bring to the importance of home ownership knowing not everybody got handed $400 million on a silver platter and then filed bankruptcy six times, is a value I bring to my work – to say that we are going to work with the private sector and home builders to increase by 3 million homes by the end of my first term.
It is important to note that while Trump has filed for bankruptcy before, none of them have been personal bankruptcies. The former President of the USA has filed for 6 business bankruptcies related to his casino and hotel businesses in Atlantic City and New York.
The 6 businesses were – the Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Plaza Hotel, Trump Castle Hotel and Casino, Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, and Trump Entertainment Records.

Trump has been in the business too long now and has successfully built an empire for himself. But when people like Harris point out the fact that he has filed for bankruptcy several times, we cannot help but wonder just how much the man is worth.
Well, according to Forbes’ latest report, Trump’s net worth is a whopping $7.5 billion, last estimated on May 02, 2024. The number is divided into Truth Social’s (a media and technology company majority-owned by Trump) Parent Company, real estate, clubs & resorts, and more.
The biggest chunk of his net worth comes from Truth Social’s Parent Company which Forbes estimated to be worth $5.6 billion. Real Estate accounts for $1.1 billion and Clubs & Resorts are worth $810 million. Cash and other assets account for $410 million and $100 million, respectively. On the other hand, legal liabilities saw a drop in net value by $542 million as of March 2024.
Clearly, filing for personal bankruptcy was never a need for Trump. Back in 2011, he told Newsweek, “I do play with the bankruptcy laws – they’re very good for me,” as a way of paring debt. It looks like he had it all figured out.
