Wild’s Ryan Hartman suspended three games for unsportsmanlike conduct

Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman has been suspended three games after he threw his stick in the direction of an official during Saturday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Department of Player Safety announced Monday.

“While we acknowledge Hartman’s argument that he was not trying to hurt or hit anyone with his stick, Hartman himself acknowledges his actions are unprofessional, unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the Department said in its announcement.

Hartman has already been suspended three times and fined seven times in his career, most recently in November for tripping Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat.

His history as a repeat offender contributed to the three-game suspension.

The Golden Knights won Saturday’s 2-1 game in overtime after scoring on an empty Minnesota net.

The 29-year-old winger has 19 goals and 42 points in 68 games this season for Minnesota.

The Wild are scheduled to play their next three games on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators, Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche and Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.

Minnesota holds 35-28-10 record, and sits seven points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
