Will.i.am Song Supporting Kamala Harris: “Yes She Can” Lyrics

Though she currently serves as the vice president of the United States of America, Kamala Harris found her fame boosting to extraordinary heights after she was endorsed by Joe Biden to be the next major candidate for president in the now-over presidential elections 2024 from the Democratic Party. That said, she received backing from major artists as well.

One of these artists included the 49-year-old American musician Will.i.am aka William James Adams Jr., among multiple others. Especially in light of the 60th quadrennial U.S. presidential elections, the widely acclaimed frontman of the musical group Black Eyed Peas released the perfect rap song Yes She Can, which had him standing in support of and endorsing Harris.

Released a few days prior to the elections being held, the song’s melodies coupled with its outstanding lyrics shared the one message that many other celebrities had also been sharing: Kamala Harris as the next president could do wonders for the country. All in all, here’s all you need to know about Will.i.am’s song, lyrics, and how the star endorsed the VP through it.

On November 3, Will.i.am dropped the song and music video of Yes She Can, featuring him and a handful of other people singing the titular themes of the song in the chorus. This came two days before the now-declared US presidential elections (as of this writing), which featured Democratic candidate Kamala Harris facing off against Republican Donald Trump.

Through the caption of the YouTube video alone, the Pump It singer made it clear that this track was “a heartfelt anthem celebrating Kamala Harris and the power of every people.” Per the caption, the singer wanted to “score the movement, and create a call to action, and a promise of what we can achieve together” as he called others to “the change that’s coming.”

Adding to this, the caption read: “This is a celebration of resilience, hope, and unstoppable spirit… Celebrating mothers and single mothers, stepmothers, sisters, aunts, nieces, wives, best friends, fearless warriors, queens, princesses, presidents, CEOs, doctors, nurses, coders, scientists, astronauts, researchers, preachers, caretakers, lawmakers, nurturers, teachers, tutors, professors, entrepreneurs, bosses and the doorway to LIFE that women are…

With the help of this powerful beat, the My Humps singer called everyone to FEEL the rhythm of change led by the PEOPLE, for the PEOPLE. The clip has since gone on to garner more than 15 million views, with the thing appeasing the most to viewers being the lyrics of the track.

As powerful as the 1 minute and 43 seconds long song is, it started off with the camera switching between multiple people, both men and women, before Will.i.am kicked off with his opening lyrics that said, “Mama, what’s wrong with America? / Why can’t we get along in America? / Something’s going on in America. / People entertained by the predator.

The next verse had him pointing out how America “used to be united” but is now “just divided,” with footage of the Capitol riot from January 6 serving as the background clip for the lyrics. This continued with him singing, “We all immigrants different characters but together, you know, we could break down the barriers.” Continuing, he then called to all voters for their awareness.

The I Gotta Feeling singer sang, “So register and vote for your life. / Do it for your daughters and your sons and your wife. / If you a woman then vote for your rights, and don’t let them take away your right. / We could be better than we ever been. / We about to have a woman president. / Haters going to say that we can’t. / But the word American says that I Can!

This was followed by the chorus repeating “yes she can.” The video also featured multiple short clips and images, with some showing scenes of people voting at the polls, the Statue of Liberty, a girl holding an American flag waving in the breeze, and another, an image of people protesting outside the Capitol with the signs “Bans off our bodies.”

All of this had the singer gaining all the right attention as fans commented on the track how the singer was “the voice of hope and courage” and others echoing his chorus words, Yes She Can.
