Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is out for the season after a knee injury suffered in Saturday’s 42-10 loss to Alabama, according to multiple reports.
Van Dyke went down after scrambling toward the sideline on the Badgers’ first offensive series of the game, which ended in a field goal that gave his team a 3-0 lead. Crimson Tide defensive end Keanu Koht tackled him after a 5-yard gain, and Van Dyke immediately grabbed his right knee.
Van Dyke, a Miami transfer, was carted off the field and taken to the locker room for treatment. He has a complete tear of the ACL in his knee, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel:
Van Dyke was 5-for-5 passing for 16 yards at the time of the injury, and also had a 9-yard run. Sophomore Braedyn Locke replaced him in the lineup and went 13-for-26 for 125 yards and a touchdown during the remainder of the game.
Wisconsin (2-1) has an open date this week before traveling to USC for its Big Ten opener on Sept. 28.
