Wyoming police investigating after shots fired near elementary school

WYOMING, MI — Police are investigating after shots were fired near a Grandville Schools elementary school.

The shots were fired about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 in the area of 5700 Canal Avenue SW, near Century Park Learning Center.

Officers responded to the area on a report of gunshots heard, then found several shell casings along Canal Avenue.

Police believe the occupants of an older gray or gold sedan fired shots, but they don’t why. There were no reports of injuries or property damage.

When the shots were heard, Century Park Learning Center was in the process is dismissing students for the day. They were asked to briefly keep buses in the parking lot until police deemed the area safe.

Wyoming police said there is no indication the shots had anything to do with the elementary school.
