'You know when it's your time': James Clemens football coach Chad McGehee retires

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — Chad McGehee is retiring from his position as the James Clemens football program leader.

McGehee announced Thursday that he is retiring after four years with the Jets and over 25 years of coaching experience. McGehee led the Jets to a 27-16 record.

“I am thankful for the opportunities and experiences that football has provided me as a player and a coach,” McGehee posted to social media. “More importantly I am grateful for the relationships we have made along the way.”

McGehee served as Hoover’s defensive coordinator before coming to James Clemens. He served as Elkmont’s head coach in 2005 and 2006.

In the post, he said that he knew it was his time to call it a career.

“As hard as it is to step away I believe as a coach you know when it’s your time,” said McGehee. “I look forward to embracing the next chapter in our journey.”
