YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Shatosha Jones has overcome a lot. The Youngstown native who now lives in Cleveland is using her struggles to help others.
Jones struggled with addiction after being prescribed Percocet after surviving a shooting in 1995. Years later, it evolved into a heroin addiction.
Jones lost custody of her kids, and was in and out of jail and prison.
Now she is clean, is an addiction counselor and has a relationship with her children.
Jones was featured in a documentary series called “True Tales” about people who have transformed their lives. Her daughter, Dymon, played her in the short film.
“It makes me feel amazing, seeing that documentary. Every time I watch it, I cry. And to see my daughter play that role — and she played that role so well — her reliving my life, it makes me feel good. It makes me hope I can help somebody,” Jones said.
Jones’ episode of True Tales — Episode 1 — was shot in Youngstown. It was made by Sylvester White, who is also from the Valley.
It’s available to watch on Amazon Prime.
