1 Comics Storyline Unifying Superman and Batman Into a Single Entity Might Be the Coolest Arc in DC History Despite Being Too Risky for Live-Action

The world of DC Comics is filled with all kinds of heroes and villains, but none as popular and iconic as Superman and Batman. Both figures have remained the flagship characters of the franchise, gracing the comic books, animated and live-action films, and even video games.

It’s no secret that DC Studios and Warner Bros have invested so much in this duo over the past decades. We have had lots of movies and TV series centered on both. However, one storyline from the printed pages was so impressive and cool that it would look too ridiculous for the screens.

Batman and Superman Joined Forces And Became One

In Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #4 written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Dan Mora, Superman and Batman find themselves becoming a single entity. In a video clip explained by Comics Unlocked via YouTube, the pair had an absurd transformation after falling into the powers of Green Lantern’s ring.

After a demon possessed the Justice League, the members were empowered by magic allowing them to inflict damage on Superman. Green Lantern launches a devastating assault on Clark, piercing him with his constructs and fatally wounding him.”

The evil magic that possessed the Justice League team knew no bounds. Superman was badly hit and almost lost his life when Batman thought of a really brilliant idea.

However, Batman realizes that Green Lantern’s willpower is compromised under the villain’s control. Both Bruce and Clark focus their willpower on a single thought causing the ring to fly towards them and from the explosion emerged a single entity with both the consciousness of Batman and Superman.”

A single entity of Batman and Superman is probably the coolest thing a fan will ever encounter from the pages of the comic books, though this momentous event did not last as the ring ran out of powers. In the end, the evil was defeated, and both Superman and Batman returned to their original state.

The entity displayed an unprecedented level of power easily defeating the entire Justice League and eventually overwhelming the demon himself. However, the immense feat of strength completely depleted the ring’s charge causing the heroes to revert back to normal.”

While this sounds completely mind-blowing in the comics, and probably a dream come true for many fans, this would not fare well if it was incorporated in live-action movies.

Batman-Superman Pairing Is Already Cliché

Fans already had a taste of what it was like to have Superman and Batman duel against each other on the big screen, and it ended up really messy. Adapting the storyline where they merge into one entity, at this point, already sounds like the studio is trying too hard to push their narrative.

There have been enough Batman and Superman iterations in the past; other DC characters need to shine as well. The concept of both comic book figures getting into another rivalry is already overworked by now. The same goes with anything that would bring them to sharing one frame.
