A Birmingham child has died after she was found unresponsive inside a hotel swimming pool earlier this week.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the girl as Irmani Ray. She was 3.
Authorities said the drowning happened at 10 p.m. Monday at Drury Inn & Suites at 3510 Grandview Parkway. She was swimming with her family when she was found submerged in the hotel pool, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
Irmani was taken to Grandview Medical Center and then transferred to Children’s of Alabama where she was pronounced dead at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday.
The circumstances of her death remain under investigation by Birmingham police.
