A reduction of the VAT when solar panels (photovoltaic systems) are installed is sought by the MP Stavros Papadouris of the Ecologists, with a proposal for a law that he tabled in today’s session of the Plenary of the Parliament.
The purpose of the proposal is to amend the VAT law, so that 5% VAT is imposed on the delivery and installation of photovoltaics on and next to private homes and in public and non-public buildings, used for public interest activities.
According to the rapporteur, the regulation is promoted in the context of the exercise of the discretion provided by a specific European Directive, regarding the common value added tax system, according to which the member states have the possibility to apply a reduced VAT rate to the delivery and installation of solar collectors.
