The U.S. Marshal’s service and Harford police officers have arrested a Bahamian wanted for allegedly fatally shooting two people and wounding a third in a nightclub in suburban Toronto, Canada two years ago.
Kensworth Alton Francis, 30, had been living in Canada but became a fugitive after the July 23, 2022 shooting at the ATL Lounge in Vaughn, Ontario. He was tracked to the Hartford area by U.S. Marshals following data emitted by his cell phone and his wife, who was spotted flying between Hartford and the Bahamas, according to court filings.
Francis was apprehended in Hartford on Tuesday. Officials with the Marshal’s Service, the Hartford Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s office said they are unable to discuss the case.
According to court filings, Francis was tossed out of the nightclub by two security guards after throwing a glass of water at another patron, slugging him in the face and beating him with a bottle of Tequila.
Francis returned to the club moments later and allegedly shot the two security guards through the door. The guards died and a woman who also was hit survived.
He was identified through nightclub security video that showed him wearing a T-shirt carrying the message “Anti-Social Social Club.”
