Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Yariel Rodriguez is experiencing back soreness after his start Monday night against the Kansas City Royals.

Rodriguez gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits over 3.2 innings of work and did not factor in the decision as the Blue Jays earned a 6-5 victory. He threw 82 pitches with one strikeout and three walks.

The 27-year-old Cuban rookie has a 0-1 record, 4.11 ERA and 16 strikeouts over four starts.

The Blue Jays added right-handed pitcher Zach Pop to their taxi squad on Tuesday.

Pop has made nine relief appearances with triple-A Buffalo this season posting a 0-1 record, 1.86 ERA and 11 strikeouts over 9.2 innings.

The 27-year-old from Brampton, Ont., played in 15 games with the Blue Jays last year and had a 6.59 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 13.2 innings.
