Did you miss her? Because we did. Camila Mendes makes a triumphant reappearance at the Met Gala 2024 in a stunning outfit that shined on its own—just like her talent on and off camera. Although the Brazilian-American actress has only ascended the iconic stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala a few times, all have been memorable moments. For example, how could we forget her 2019 debut in a bright yellow, feathered dress by Prabal Gurung? Or when she dared in 2022 to wear a fringed gold gown by Ami?
The actor and producer is well-versed in striking a balance between elegant and glamorous for one of the most anticipated fashion evenings of the year, the Met Gala 2024. As usual, the first Monday in May marks the opening of the museum’s annual Costume Institute exhibition, this year, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Each year, the dress code is aligned with the exhibition and guests are usually dressed—or not—according to the theme. This year’s dress code was “The Garden of Time” and Mendes let designer Joseph Altuzarra interpret the theme with a romantic, ruffled halter dress with a dramatic rosette at the neckline.
The blush-colored, sequin-covered gown confirmed that the Riverdale actress decided to join the trend of betting on the rose as a nod to the garden theme. Indeed, it seemed to be the favorite flower of the night appearing as accents and accessories on many other attendees’ looks.
She completed the look with diamond earrings and natural makeup: nude lips, soft brown smoky eyes and slicked back hair with artfully styled baby hairs.
Undoubtedly, the return of Mendes to the most dramatic red carpet of the year has surpassed previous ones, proving the bloom is definitely not off the rose.
