If the Vancouver Canucks are going to advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs, they will do it without their No. 1 goalie.
Head coach Rick Tocchet said Thatcher Demko is week-to-week with the undisclosed injury that kept him off the ice for Game 2. The Nashville Predators beat the Canucks 4-1 Tuesday night to tie their best-of-seven series at one game apiece.
Earlier Tuesday, Tocchet said Demko was “day-to-day” when announcing Casey DeSmith would start Game 2.

No other details about the injury were disclosed, including when it occurred. Demko missed 14 games at the end of the season with a knee injury and Tocchet said this injury was unrelated.
DeSmith allowed three goals on 15 shots in Game 2 as the Canucks poured on the pressure but struggled to score. The 32-year-old is expected to continue making starts for the Canucks in Demko’s absence with Arturs Silovs backing up.
In other Canucks news, Tocchet said defenceman Tyler Myers missed Game 2 with the flu.
