Canucks’ Miller wears Silovs’ dress shirt during practice, hilarity ensues

J.T. Miller showed up to the Vancouver Canucks‘ practice at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday in what could be called less-than-conventional attire.

Rather than his typical green practice jersey, the forward stepped onto the ice in a pink paisley patterned dress shirt belonging to goaltender Arturs Silovs.

Per The Athletic‘s Thomas Drance, Miller went through the first set of warmup jerseys in this custom attire before swapping out for his usual first-line green jersey.

Silovs said he wasn’t surprised to see Miller donning his attire and conceded that the shirt looked good on the forward.

“I guess they like [the shirt] so much, they wanted to bring it on the ice,” the 23-year-old Latvian goaltender said to reporters, with a hint of a smirk.

Defenceman Nikita Zadorov, a self-proclaimed fashion lover, had some words when asked if it was fair for the team to mock Silovs over the shirt.

“I mean, he has to know better. He’s not going to a nightclub in Riga, Latvia,” Zadorov said.

It’s a bit of levity for the Canucks, who missed the opportunity to close out their first playoff series victory on home ice since 2011 with a Game 5 loss to the Nashville Predators. Both Silovs and Miller have been difference-makers in the series, which the Canucks lead 3-2.

In six games, Miller has six points (one goal, five assists) while Silovs — thrust into the middle of Round 1 as a third-string goaltender — has a .904 save percentage and 2.57 goals-against average in his two starts.
