The French media reported on Thursday that Paris Saint-Germain has agreed to terms with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte. However, Fabrizio Romano isn’t calling the deal done yet.
Romano also reported on Thursday that PSG has sent the first bid to the Portuguese club but with different payment terms than the €60 million release clause.
Furthermore, Romano notes that Chelsea is absolutely into the race and that the Premier League club views Ugarte as their No. 6 in their starting 11 for the 2023-24 season.

Ugarte would fill the defensive midfielder role that the capital club has yet to fill since Thiago Motta departed Paris in 2018.
The 22-year-old could finally take over that position long-term; nonetheless, Campos must ensure he wins the race over the Premier League club.
PSG’s issues in the midfield have been well-documented and Campos did revamp the position last summer when he brought in four new players with a bag of mixed results.
However, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler, Vitinha and Renato Sanches don’t have the No. 6 profile. As a result, the Portuguese club chief has to work overtime with superagent Jorge Mendes to secure Ugarte.
