The news spread fast across social media.

Connecticut residents who love discount baked good and breads lamented: They had seen the sign that the Entenmann’s outlet store would be closing.

And it was true.

Bimbo Bakeries USA, for which Entenmann’s is one of its many brands, said, “After careful analysis and consideration, we made the difficult decision to permanently close several of our outlet stores and redistribute product to other locations.”

The bakery giant did not confirm that the Connecticut outlets in Orange, Cromwell and Naugatuck  would close, but a search of the company website shows that there are no longer any outlets in the state.

“We appreciate all of our associates who worked at these stores and are taking steps to help ease them through this transition,” the bakery company said in a statement.

“Consumers can still enjoy their favorite baked goods, and can find them by using our product locator: https://www.bimbobakeriesusa.com/product-locator.”

The words were cold comfort to consumers across social media, who posted comments such as, “It was my go to place.

Too “expensive to buy anywhere else.”

And another wrote, it’s “a shame. was my go-to place for breads and goodies. much needed place with the price of groceries these days.”

And yet another: “They closed that store and the Naugatuck store yesterday. One of the employees in Naugatuck said it was expected.”

Others said they recalled going to the outlets for at least 50 years, sometimes with grandparents and always looking for better prices, including that there were deals of three loaves of bread for $5.

“Could always run in for that last minute blue line, but now that’s gone too. Our economy is so good that thrift and dollar stores are closing,” another consumer lamented.

And, “Thought this might save someone the trip,” one more Connecticut resident posted.
