ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) — A couple from Brooklyn, New York, settled in Rocky Mount and found they enjoyed the slower pace of life in North Carolina.

Joanne Saget and Anthony Cunningham have been here for more than three years now, opening their own business, Kafe Louverture, in the downtown area.

Saget said that Cunningham was the reason that she decided to open her own bakery. Now she makes Haitian patties in the same manner that she was taught to make them as early as seven years old. She learned the skill from her grandmother.
