Police are looking for a man accused of killing a kitten and assaulting a woman during a domestic violence incident over the weekend in Windsor Locks.

Authorities are looking to charge 44-year-old Kevin Colgan after a woman called police on Saturday and reported multiple assaults and the death of one of her kittens, according to the Windsor Locks Police Department. He is wanted on two counts each of cruelty to animals, third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment.

According to police, the victim, Colgan’s girlfriend, alleged that he punched her in the face and throat before threatening to kill her kittens. Police said the woman was able to keep most of the animals safe, but Colgan allegedly picked one up and threw it against an air compressor. The animal died as a result, according to police.

The incident on Saturday came a day after the woman alleged that Colgan head-butted and punched her and threw one of her kittens, police said.

According to police, Colgan allegedly has a history of assaulting his girlfriend, though previous incidents were either not reported or were not met with cooperation.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Colgan — who is known to frequent Hartford — has been asked to contact the Windsor Locks Police Department at 860-627-1461.
