State police have arrested a Connecticut man wanted in Missouri for allegedly sending a teenage girl “explicit” Snapchats.

Carter Jay Denlinger, 25, of Bridgewater was charged Friday as a fugitive from justice, according to Connecticut State Police.

He was held over the weekend on $1 million bond and was expected to be arraigned Monday in Torrington Superior Court.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, state troopers were contacted by authorities in Jackson, Missouri on Dec. 7 about a case involving a 13-year-old girl who was communicating with Denlinger on Snapchat. Missouri authorities provided state police with subscriber information for Denlinger and transcripts of alleged communications between him and the teen, the warrant affidavit said.

Investigators from Missouri asked troopers if they could attempt to contact Denlinger, which they did on March 15 when they went to his residence on Skyline Ridge Road, according to the warrant affidavit. Denlinger answered the door and invited authorities into the living room before asking them why they were there, the warrant affidavit said.

The moment troopers asked if he had a Snapchat account, Denlinger said he wanted a lawyer present for any questioning, the warrant affidavit said. State police told him he could arrange to have an attorney present for questioning if he chose to do so and left the residence.

According to the warrant affidavit, troopers were never contacted by Denlinger. They notified authorities in Missouri who said they would be seeking a warrant for his arrest.

Last Monday, Missouri investigators informed Connecticut troopers they had an extraditable warrant for Denlinger charging him with sexual misconduct, a felony, according to state police. He will be held on $50,000 bond once he is extradited to Missouri.
