SAN JOSE — A driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he hit and killed a man walking on an Interstate 280 offramp late Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision involving a BMW sedan was reported at 11:04 p.m. on southbound I-280 at the Vine Street offramp, the CHP stated in a news release.
Responding officers found an unresponsive man in the roadway, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
An on-site investigation determined that the driver in the collision, a 27-year-old San Jose man, was under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested, the CHP said.
