PASSING a driving test might seem like a given to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at Monaco GP.

But for Rob Beckett failing his test won’t stop him from dressing like Top Gear’s The Stig and getting stuck in with the Mercedes racing team in his new series.

He and co-star Romesh Ranganathan are jetting off to Monaco for their new series, Rob & Romesh VS F1, tomorrow night.

But first, Rob has to scrub up on his driving skills and take a test in a manual car in the first episode of the series.

But after being dished out a fail before even reaching the racetrack, it doesn’t look like he will be going very far.

Hilarious scenes see Rob sitting in the car with driving instructor Bodgan, fuming “for f***’s sake” when he’s given a fail.

“You know in manual vehicles you don’t have to use the break to move off,” the instructor explains.

Shaking his head, Rob replies: “You don’t? Romesh has never told me that! Oh, that’s a lot easier. For f***’s sake, Bogdan.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me that? F***ing hell. S**t. Sorry. I’ve been breaking like that the whole way round.

“It’s like the magic circle, this, nobody tells anyone.”

Watching Rob stalling the car from the curb in his on-screen test, Romesh jokes: “What I imagine is that Rob has stalled the car eleven times, and has found a way to blame the instructor.”

Back in the car, Rob fumes: “I didn’t think it was possible, but my driving was just getting worse, and I had a hunch I was going to be put out of my misery.”

It’s then the driving instructor reveals: “That’s the end of the test and I’m sorry to inform you that you have not passed/.

“You have problems with the gears and selecting the appropriate gear, you should stick to automatic.

“You’re quite funny, but this is not a funny business.”

Rob & Romesh VS F1 airs tomorrow night at 9pm on Sky Max.
