Police are looking for a former NFL player after his mother’s body was found near a creek behind her home in suburban Chicago.
The Associated Press reports the body of Myrtle Brown, 73, was found in Maywood, which is about 12 miles west of Chicago, on Sunday.
She is the mother of former defensive back Sergio Brown. Relatives had reported both mother and son missing on Saturday.
A medical examiner determined that she had been injured during an assault, according to the Associated Press.
Brown, who graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood and attended Notre Dame, played with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills from 2010 through 2016.
