GLASGOW’S best bars and pubs have been revealed at a glitzy awards ceremony.

The Glasgow Bar Awards 2024 were held at Saint Luke’s on Monday. where hundreds gathered to celebrate their achievements.

The prestigious event is considered the ‘BAFTAS‘ for bartending and ten winners were selected from a long list of 150 venues.

Winners were chosen by industry experts voting for their favourite in each category narrowing it down from a top six.

They included Jack’s Bar at the Dakota Hotel claiming Best Bar, Best pub went to Redmond’s of Dennistoun.

It beat stiff competition from The Laurieston, The Pot Still and Ben Nevis

Redmond’s won for its friendly atmosphere, classic cocktails and pints, pub quiz, and even its vinyl DJ set on weekends.

The awards recognise everything from greatest Glasgow drink to best bar team and rising star.

Daddy Marmalades ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding’ was Glasgow’s greatest drink, it beat from The Gate with its classic pint of Tennent’s Lager, ‘Balche Anna’ from La Jupe and more.

Meanwhile, Tabac clinched the prize for the Beast Bar Team, beating The Winged Ox, Oran Mor among others.

The awards also recognised individuals, with Radisson Red Sky Bar’s Sophie Pettifor chosen as the one to watch in the 2024 Rising Star award.

Sascha Montague from Bar & Tender was highly commended in the category, Aimee Ashworth from La Jupe was named Unsung Hero with Jess Campbell was named Social Sell Out.

Hendrick’s Gin Sarah Berardi took home the Far Side of the Bar.

Co-founder of Backs! hospitality and operations manager of Saint Luke’s, Alex Riches, said: “What an incredible night! We welcomed over 300 of the city’s top hospitality industry, to raise a glass to all their achievements from the past year. 2024 saw some of our toughest categories yet, with venues raising the bar across every aspect of the competition.

“A huge congrats to all our well deserved winners, finalists and venues – we hope the awards will encourage the public to get out and try somewhere new this year, support local bars and pubs, and potentially find their new favourite spot.”

Best Bar Team – Tabac

Unsung Hero – Aimee Ashworth, La Jupe Helensburgh

Best Shake – Ally Shaw

Best Drink – Sticky Toffee Pudding at Daddy Marmalades

Social Sell Out – Jess Campbell

Far Side of the Bar – Sarah Berardi, Hendricks Gin

Rising Star Winner: Sophie Pettifor, Red Sky Bar at Radisson Red.
