MONTCALM COUNTY, MI — A 6-year-old girl critically injured in a May 22 head-on crash in Montcalm County has died, state police said.
The girl was a passenger in a Subaru going west on Sidney Road, near Stevenson, when a vehicle going in the opposite direction crossed the center line and struck the Subaru, state police said.
The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 22.
Police noted the girl’s death in a Tweet on Thursday.
“The loss of a child is a tremendous heartache, and our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family and friends,” according to the Tweet.
The crash also seriously injured the girl’s 29-year-old mother and the other driver, a 37-year-old Crystal man.
Police said that, when the crash happened, the Subaru caught fire. A nurse happened upon the scene and helped get both the mother and daughter out of the vehicle.
