• The winner of Michigan State-Nebraska will advance to play Maryland on Saturday at 1 p.m. The loser will be eliminated. Should Michigan State beat the Cornhuskers, it would need to beat Maryland twice on Saturday to advance to the tournament championship game on Sunday.
• The Spartans advanced to Friday by beating No. 5 seed Rutgers, 6-4, on Thursday to mark the program’s first Big Ten Tournament win since 2016. The Spartans took the lead with two bases-loaded walks in the eighth inning, as Wyatt Rush pitched a season-high 4 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
• Michigan State and Nebraska will be playing for the first time this season. The Cornhuskers enter the game at went 32-22-1 and earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
