Garden Grove police are investigating after a man was found dead of a gunshot wound Thursday morning, May 25.
Officers were called to the 12300 block of Trask Avenue, the same street as Santiago High School, at 3:45 a.m. after someone spotted the man lying down on the sidewalk, Sgt. Nick Jensen said. Officers arrived and discovered the man had been shot.
He was believed to be 25- to 35 years old, Jensen said, but further information was not immediately available.
Police did not receive any reports of gunshots in the area prior to the call of the man lying on the sidewalk, he said. Detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses and possible video.
That portion of the street, a main east-west thoroughfare through Garden Grove, is also lined with single-family homes and apartment complexes and runs over a flood control channel.
