HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Police are investigating after a man was hit by a car and killed in High Point.
On Monday night, around 9:30 p.m., emergency responders were called to North Main Street about a traffic crash involving a car and a pedestrian. Officials found Richard Virgil Garrett, of High Point, dead at the scene.
Investigators say that Garrett was attempting to cross N. Main St and was hit by a car in the southbound lane. A second car also hit the man.
Police say it was dark and raining at the time of the crash and Garrett was dressed in dark colors.
No charges are expected to be filed. This is the second traffic fatality in High Point in 2024.
