The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for portion of northern Connecticut through late Monday night.
The watch warns of the possibility of flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
The watch includes portions of northern Connecticut, including the following: Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, and portions of Massachusetts, including Eastern Hampden, Northern Worcester and Southern Worcester, according to the weather service.
The possible excessive runoff “may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” according to the weather service.
Flooding also may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, according to the weather service.

The service also noted the possibility of: “widespread rain totals of 2-3 inches and a current 1 and 3 hourly flash flood guidance below that threshold, combined with very wet antecedent soil in the watch area.”

The service reminds residents: “You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.”
