Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin weighed in yesterday in a city-wide conversation surrounding “predatory” towing in the downtown area.
“Birmingham, we hear you,” Woodfin tweeted. “Predatory towing is an issue that’s been on our radar, and we’re working to put an end to it. A new towing ordinance is being drafted to address your concerns.
“There will be a public hearing in June. Your stories, your experiences, & your voices matter.”
This tweet follows months of public outcry accusing local towing company Parking Enforcement Systems (PES) of predatory practices following nearly a decade of people reporting issues with the company.
Downtown drivers have taken to social media to air grievances with the company’s practices, and some have even been inspired to create their own Facebook group, Citizens Concerned about Birmingham Parking Enforcement Practices, to warn others about run ins with PES in specific lots.
