Ohio Senator JD Vance says U.S. job growth going to ‘foreign-born’

(WKBN) – Ohio Senator JD Vance posted a message on X Tuesday referencing the Center for Immigration Studies which says the employment growth in the fourth quarter of 2023 went to foreign-born workers. “Native-born Americans have been left behind by Bidenonmics,” Vance said.

The study compared the fourth quarter of 2019 to the fourth quarter of 2023 and showed that there were 2.7 million more people working in the United States — 2.9 million more immigrants (legal and illegal) and 183,000 fewer U.S.-born Americans, the organization said.

“Since the depths of the Covid Recession in 2020 employment has increased for both groups. But the number of U.S.-born workers has not made it back to the 2019 pre-Covid level,” the study read.

“Good thing the Senate is doing nothing on border security while printing money for foreign wars,” Vance wrote in his message on X.

The Center for Immigration Studies said the analysis was based on the Current Population Survey (CPS), collected by the Census Bureau for the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
