A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in North Branford early Thursday.
Police at 7:10 a.m. received a 911 call reporting an injured person in the area of 97 Foxon Road where officers, firefighters and medics responded and found a dead male, according to the North Branford Police Department.
Police said in a news release the victim “appears to have been struck by an unknown vehicle which subsequently left the scene.”
Foxon Road, which is also known as Route 80, was expected to be closed between the East Haven town line and Totoket Road “for an extended period of time” while the South Central Regional Accident investigation unit was on scene, according to police.
Police said they are withholding the identity of the victim until his family can be notified.
