Police investigating crash that killed pedestrian on Berlin Turnpike

A pedestrian died after being struck by a motor vehicle on the Berlin Turnpike Wednesday evening, according to police.

Officers were notified of a crash in which a pedestrian was reportedly struck around 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Meriden Police Department.

As officers arrived at the location on the Berlin Turnpike, they found a male pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Meriden Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit was brought in to conduct the ongoing investigation, according to police. Connecticut State Police and Meriden police blocked the entrance to the Berlin Turnpike from Interstate 691 in order to prevent traffic from entering the crash scene.
