MUSKEGON – The Reeths-Puffer softball program enjoyed a resurgent 2023 season this spring that featured wins over programs such as Spring Lake, Oakridge, Whitehall and Fruitport.

One of the key playmakers for the Rockets has been Mady Snyder, who has powered her squad from both the pitching circle and the plate. This past week, Snyder registered two hits, including a home run and a double in the opening game of a doubleheader against Spring Lake and added a complete game performance from the circle in the nightcap and allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters.

On the season, Snyder registered a .353 batting average, a .450 OBP, hit four home runs, including a grand slam, 41 RBI, and was 9-6 on the mound, with 95 strikeouts, and a 3.862 ERA. She was also just recently named all-conference in the OK Green.

“Mady is such a hard worker and brings confidence to our team and a ton of positivity,” said Reeths-Puffer head coach Sarah Ferenz. “She has a ton of power at the plate and leads the team in home runs. She also has the second-highest slugging percentage on the team with a ..618. On the mound, she carries herself in a way that shows confidence and leadership. She plays a big role for us and being a sophomore on the team with great accomplishments already, we are excited to see her continue to grow into that.”

Readers of MLive and Muskegon Chronicle were impressed with Snyder’s versatile skill set and impact on her team’s success, as they flooded the polls in support of the softball standout in this week’s voting process.

Snyder came away with more than 31 percent of the total votes cast to earn the MLive Muskegon Athlete of the Week award for May 15-20.

Oakridge softball standout Madison Clark finished runner-up in the voting with nearly 20 percent of the total votes, while Mona Shores soccer standout Shay Norden earned a third-place finish with nearly eight percent of the total votes.
