Sleeping mom critically wounded when someone deliberately shoots into her Oakland home

OAKLAND — A 25-year-old mother of four asleep inside her East Oakland home was in critical condition Monday morning after someone deliberately fired multiple shots into the residence from outside, authorities said.

None of the four young children or other adults inside the home were injured.

The shooting happened about 1:19 a.m. Monday at an apartment in the 1400 block of 92nd Avenue.

Police said the woman was asleep in a bedroom when at least one person standing outside fired multiple rounds through a bedroom wall, hitting her once in the back.

Authorities believe the woman was the intended target but a motive has not yet been confirmed.

The shooter fled before police and paramedics got to the apartment.

Authorities said the shooting is not connected to a fatal shooting Friday night in the Laurel district where a 42-year-old mother of two died after she was hit by a stray bullet fired from a block away.
