The South Windsor community is mourning the loss of a teen who died Sunday.

“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I share a loss to our school community. Aarush Agarwal, a sophomore at South Windsor High School, died unexpectedly yesterday,” Superintendent Kate Carter said in an email. “I know the entire South Windsor community will join me in sending love and strength to the Agarwal family during this heartbreaking time.”

Aarush Agarawal, 15, was “a bright and loving person taken from us too soon,” according to his obituary.

“A star of our eyes, cherished son and brother, Aarush was a beacon of kindness, intelligence, and dedication in every aspect of his life. Known for his generosity, he was always ready to help at home, in his parents’ office and in the community embodying a spirit of responsibility and care.”

He was warm, with boundless compassion and deeply loved by his family, the obituary says, and he leaves a legacy “of love, service, and the profound impact he had on those around him.”

A dedicated member of Boy Scout Troop 880 and the Science Olympiad, scouting, science, politics, music and sports were among his many passions.

“He is a true leader and always encouraged others to be the better versions of themselves. As we bid him farewell, we hold tight to the memories of his warmth and the light he brought into our lives,” the obituary says.

Aarush Agarwal leaves his parents, Mukesh Agarwal and Vijaya Canakala of South Windsor, his brother, Ishan Agarwal of South Windsor and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.

Donations in Agarwal’s memory to Boy Scout Troop 880 South Windsor or Science Olympiad South Windsor High School are welcome in lieu of flowers.
