Young Justice is easily regarded as one of those animated series from DC that fans just can’t get enough of. Encircling the life of several teenage protege superheroes, it delivered the ultimate justice through its perfect portrayal of the young characters. But out of all the teenagers, there was one whose storyline was helmed with utter care.

This character was none other than the young superhero who was a result of a Human-Motherbox fusion: Halo, aka Violet Harper. In fact, the creators of the animated show wanted to ensure such utter carefulness while delving into Harper’s storyline that they even went so far as to take help from the Muslim Public Affairs Council for the same!

Young Justice Creators Put Extra Efforts Into Carving Violet Harper

First introduced in Royal We, Violet Harper (or Halo) is one of those incredibly gifted superheroes in the franchise, except that they were the result of a human being’s (Gabrielle Daou’s) fusion with the spirit of a Motherbox.

They exercise the superpower of aura generation through their “rainbow power”, the seven colors of which allow them to exercise multiple terrific superpowers like regeneration, resurrection, self-healing, flight, and many more.

But as interesting as the character is, their storyline is much wider and more complex than this summarized explanation. This is why the creators of Young Justice ensured they put in special care while introducing them in the saga.

In an interview with DC, showrunners Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti shared that they even went so far as to connect with the Muslim Public Affairs Council just to make sure they could develop Harper’s storyline as per the comics without any flaws.

While Weisman called the MPAC “great partners”, Vietti delved more into the backstory of how it all came to be. Explaining how their imagination and research simply weren’t enough to breathe life into this one particular character, Vietti said:

“With Halo, we quickly learned that imagination and research weren’t enough. We needed experts. We needed MPAC to help us with the nuances of authenticity that we could never find on our own as we plotted Halo’s next chapter.”

Thus, with sheer dedication and commitment along with taking the utmost care in creation and execution, the showrunners were able to win the fans over as they presented Violet Harper just like they were portrayed in the comics.

Violet Harper Even Helped Young Justice Showrunner “Grow as a Person”!

While putting all of their efforts into one character just to develop them in the manner that would please fans is one thing, the animated series‘ showrunner Brandon Vietti further admitted how Violet Harper helped him “grow as a person” in return.

In the interview with DC, Vietti explained the same while talking about the character and how important of an experience they ended up giving him. The showrunner said:

“I can’t think of any other character that has helped me grow as a person more than we could grow them as a character.”

Well, for what it’s worth, the showrunners for DC’s show of young superheroes most certainly did an epic job in bringing the comics world to life, and the Violet Harper displayed in the series stands as a true testimony to this claim.
